This book in its introduction asks the very broad question: what do we truly know about the collective lives of Revolutionary War soldiers?
Well, it turns out now quite a lot!
This books is the largest demographic study of southern state Revolutionary War soldiers ever completed. It details 8,500 Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia soldiers who served for those states during the war. Within are dozens of demographic categories covering where the men were born, where they served, their military units, their length of service, their battles, occupations, and where they lived after the war to name a few.
